It’s that time of year when it’s fall but feels warm like summer and you have no idea what to wear. This is a transitional period and we need to figure this weather out. I have officially put away most of my summer pieces because I’m going to be honest I hate when it’s fall and people are still wearing pastels, tanks and flip flops. You can still dress like it’s fall but wear seasonable appropriate outfits.
Here are a few of my favorite transitional pieces...
Trenches and dusters are perfect. They are normally made out of lightweight fabric. The fabric keeps you a little warm when it’s breezy but won’t have you sweating like you’re wearing a wool coat. They’re also normally at a great price point because they are made out of polyester. I would suggest investing in a traditional tan or black trench because a cheaply made trench is very obvious. You’ll be able to wear your trench every fall.
Next up-leather skirts and shorts. I normally stick to faux leather with a lining but you can also splurge and purchase a real leather skirt if you have that extra money. This is the perfect transitional piece because leather normally keeps you warm and since it’s not cold out yet, you can still show off those legs. I normally wear denim skirts summer and spring and pull out my leather skirts in the fall and winter. I pair them with boots and turtle necks when it’s cool or T-shirts, open toe shoes and sneakers when it’s warm.
It’s not winter yet so keep those chunky sweaters waiting in your closets and instead pull out light weight sweaters. My favorite ones to wear are crop sweaters. They are perfect for this weather. Your arms will be warm but you won’t be hot with a crop sweater. I normally pair mine with high waisted skirts and pants. I especially love the new trend in pants that have a tie that you can show that detail off and still look appropriate paired with a crop sweater.
As far as shoes for transitional weather, booties are my fav. Let the ankle breath girl! It is too warm to have your boots all the way to your knee and booties are a great compromise. I love a cute bootie you can still wear your shorts and skirts with. By putting a bootie on you still look seasonal appropriate.
I hate that summer is over but so excited for fall fashion. I hope this helps anyone struggling to find something to wear until it really feels cold outside. Let me know what are favorite transitional fall pieces are right now so we can help each other. Speak to you guys soon. And remember it’s always STYLEBYTIFF.
